Why is woman’s sport important?

For most girls entering a gym or joining a sport or even going to fitness classes can be very daunting if they haven’t from a young age. The world of fitness has a persona that it’s for just men, this is false. There are so many benefits of joining a team or a gym both physical and mental. All will help you in other aspects of life and even help your mental health. It’s proven that girls and woman that are active have higher levels of self-esteem, confidence and lower levels of depression. Females who play sports tend to have a better body positivity image. They also experience higher states of psychological well-being than girls and woman who do not play sports.   

The benefits

If girls are physically active, they are healthier, happier, have higher self-esteem and body confidence. This can lead to achieving better in school or the work place. If you’re healthier on the inside it shows on the outside and reflects in your daily routine. Even with tasks non gym related. Getting active will mean your sleeping will be improved which will boost immunity. wellbeing, protects your heart and helps muscle recovery.  

Meeting new people

Joining a sport or class will allow you to meet new people. There is so many only girl sports and female only glasses where you can go and make friends and socialise with new people. This will help your mental health as it will stop you from being isolated and have lots of people to talk to and have fun with. A friendship made in a team or class could go a lot further than you think. You could potentially meet someone you really get on with and you can become friends and do things other than sport and see each other in everyday life and there’s nothing better for your mental health than surrounding yourself by people who you love or make you feel good about yourself and most importantly have fun with. 

Illness and diseases

Some specific illnesses and diseases are more likely to affect women than men. Osteoporosis, for example, is a disorder that mainly affects women. It can have an impact on quality of life, causing loss and pain. Regular activity beginning in childhood and supported into adulthood helps improve bone health and prevent osteoporosis. if you do not participate in any sports that could be a risk factor in the progression of Type-2 Diabetes. Women tend to be more effected by the disease than men.
