Anxiety is when you have that constant fear, worry, and feeling anxious about what is going to happen. Whether, it is a certain situation that will brought up or nervous about the first day of school, or a job interview.
It is very severe and ongoing, and getting in between you and your life. For some people, anxiety can come and go whenever, or you have a long-term experience of any specific anxiety disorder. This may stop you from doing things your enjoy, have you cooped up at home, and may self-isolate yourself. Certain individuals may feel afraid and nervous to be around a crowd-full of people.
What Is Anxiety Attack?
Some people suffer from anxiety attack. It feels like you can’t breathe, throat is tensed as it is slowly building up, and all the emotions are built up within you and your mind. You may overthink too much. But, it can get worse when it comes to a serious situation.
You may have panic attack, but it is different from anxiety attack.
Prevent Anxiety
There are plenty of things that could help you manage anxiety over the holidays. We have suggestions and great advice to help you take care of your mental health and your wellbeing.
Breathing exercises and taking the time to relax are very helpful tips. It helps you to relieve stress and clear your mind. If you’re feeling anxious and not able to sleep at night, try sleep meditation or sleep hypnosis. There are plenty of videos and audio on YouTube and Spotify.
You should face the thing you want to avoid. You would feel so much better and safe when talking to someone about it and solve the issue. It can tough to talk about such things, but it will take time to speak up. However, you rather let it out than keeping the feelings within you.
Here is another suggestion that may help with what you are going through. You could keep a diary to note down on what you’re doing and how you’re feeling on the daily. Gradually, you will realise what has been affecting you emotionally and mentally, and what action you are going to take.
Who To Approach?
Over the holidays, it may be difficult to book an appointment the mental health advisor or GP. Because, there is a high chance the medical centres won’t be open, and everyone won’t be available as it is the holiday season. Also, some helpline services may not be available.
It is best to talk to someone you are close to, like your parents or friends. And to know you’re not alone. The holidays is about spending time with the people you love and to enjoy yourself. Please, talk to someone and get all the support and care you need. You deserve it.
