On this Christmas season, The Prime Minister has announced that restrictions has been brought back. Although, ministers have said that people will be able to enjoy Christmas with their friends and family, despite the version of coronavirus called ‘Omicron’.
In comparison, Christmas in 2020 was a unique experience. We were able to spend Christmas with people within the household or support bubble but cannot go out in public. Unless it’s outside your home or garden. As long as there were distance.
What is Omicron?
The Omicron is a new version of the Coronavirus. This virus is spreading around the world and has now arrived in Birmingham. It was affected in South Africa first.
It has been said omicron may be more infectious than the coronavirus, which is already spreading in the UK. And has been revealed that omicron virus can be passed on easily to another, similar to the coronavirus.
COVID-19 Restrictions
Restrictions has been brought back, and that includes face masks being required to wear in public indoor and outdoor spaces and on public transport. The Government has also brought back the travel restrictions. Forcing the non-vaccinated and vaccinated people to quarantine after arriving in the UK, until their COVID test turns out to be negative. Also, people who has the Omicron virus should self-isolate at once, even if they are double jabbed.
The Impact of COVID-19
At this point, situations are getting worse, and people are not feeling emotionally and physically stable. People are afraid for their lives, distressed and stressed because regarding to the virus, things have changed. People are not safe to go out in public without protecting themselves. Nowadays, everyone has to be careful and follow the restrictions. Everyone has different experiences, and feel stressed, anxious, frightened, or lonely. If you feel some type of way about what is going on in the world, especially the viruses and restriction, you should look for help and speak to someone about it. You are not alone.
No matter what of the situations we are currently in, we can enjoy Christmas and spend time with our loved ones, as long as we listen and stick to the rules that will keep us safe. We should protect one another and still keep our distance. Just know that with time and patience, we will be fine, go on with our lives, and make great memories.
Everyone have a blessed, and safe Christmas. And a happy new year.
