Blocking and Reporting

What Does It Mean to Block an Individual?

If you don’t want to have a conversation with someone on google chat, online chat, or social media, you can block them. In return, they won’t be able to send you new direct messages.

If there is a situation where someone is harassing you, block them right away. And, if they have multiple accounts and constant following you on social media, it is best to block and report all accounts. Or you could also deactivate your social media account, and it will be deleted as soon as possible. They won’t find your account. It will give you a sense of relief and you’ll no longer be affected by it.

You can block calls on your phone. You won’t longer get calls from a certain individual on the phone, and on WhatsApp.

Report Someone

If you are looking to report someone, then select the report option. When selecting the report option, it will ask you many reasons why you’re reporting this person. Once reported, they will be blocked, and you will never hear from them again.

Some of you must be wondering if they will receive a notification that you’ve blocked them. The answer is no. They will never find out if you have reported and blocked them unless you tell them beforehand.

If an individual is harassing, bullying, or blackmailing you, report straightaway. Beforehand, make sure to take pictures or screenshots of the chat, so you can keep the evidence. If they are not threatened by the block and report, and constant harassing you by following you from other accounts, use the evidence against them. Report to the police and give proof of evidence. They will further investigate and help you solve the issue.

Be Safe

When using online chats or social media apps, you have to be careful when you come across people who will negatively affect you emotionally, mentally, and physically. Nowadays, the virtual community has gotten worse. There are a lot of people out there sending inappropriate pictures to others, and underage children illegally. There are also internet trolls, cyber-bullies, and individuals who will harass or blackmail you. For your own safety and health, block, and report right away.

If you are going through any of these difficult situations, you are not alone. You should talk to someone, as they are there to help and support you. It is known that it can take some time for people to feel comfortable and to open up.

If this is mentally affecting you, talk to your GP or a mental health advisor to give you guidance and advice.

If something is troubling you, report to the police with screenshots of evidence as soon as possible.
