Alice in Wonderland Syndrome

What is AIW Syndrome? 

Alice in wonderland disorder is a rare visual distortion disorder. Many people who suffer from this may see the things around them as too big or too small at times. Or often feel as if they are shrinking and getting smaller. There is no treatment or cure for Alice in Wonderland Syndrome and 10 to 20% of people suffer with this.

 Symptoms and Triggers of Alice in Wonderland Syndrome? 

Major migraines, anxiety, loss of time, feelings of stress, size and sight distortion. Things AIW syndrome can cause things such brain tumours, use of drugs, more stress, and epilepsy.  

How to deal with AIWS?  

While there is no cure for this syndrome, it is said that the best thing to do to help those with AIWS, is to make them feel comfortable by helping and giving them remedies for their migraines.  

Why is this called Alice in Wonderland Syndrome? 

This disorder references Lewis Caroll’s Alice in Wonderland. Due to the symptoms of vision impairment and making said person feel as if they are shrinking or getting smaller, is similar to when. Alice had drunk the ‘Drink Me’ which had caused her to grow smaller.

Being brought to life and reading article in the newspaper. She also explained how she suffer with hallucinations at just the age of five years old.
