Psychoanalysis and Psychodynamic

These two particular type of therapies are done by finding where the problems are rooted and going from there. Usually, it is discovered that most problems are subconscious. When people go through things in life their subconscious mind notices these things and reacts in diverse ways. Most of the time people do not know where they get their issues from. Usually, this is because they are subconscious.

Behavioural

Behavioural therapy is a type of therapy that covers all types of mental illness. It can help people with illnesses such as depression, anxiety, eating disorders, PTSD also known as post-traumatic stress disorder, ADHD, bipolar disorder, any type of phobias. This type of therapy can help both adults and children. 

Cognitive

This type of therapy focuses on how people think rather than how they act. Cognitive therapists believe if they can change the way a person thinks. They will then be able to change the way a person behaves. Their therapy style is changing the way people think about thinks to help with their actions. 

Gestalt

Gestalt therapy is when the therapist uses the persons behaviour to make changes. They depend on responsibility and focuses on the persons experience in the present moment, the relationship between the therapist and the client. The social and environmental context of the client’s life and regulating the adjustments that need to be made. 

Systemic

systemic therapy is when a client has a problem with relationships. Not just romantic relationships but ones with family and friends too. When someone is struggling to keep a good relationship with people this is the type of therapy to go for. 

Humanistic

Humanistic therapy is used to emphasise the way people think. This type of therapy focuses on self-determination, free will and the search for meaning.

Coaching

There are more professionals using this theory, although it does not use actual psychological therapy. The difference between coaching and all the other mentioned therapies is its used for personal development and not psychotherapy.

Neuropsychological

Neuropsychological therapy is for people any age who have a brain injury or dysfunction of the nervous system. This type of therapy is good for people with Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, or other dementia syndromes like cranioencephalic, amnestic disorders or any other illnesses that will affect our cognitive abilities.

CBT

CBT otherwise known as cognitive-behavioural therapy, supports the theory that thoughts, attitudes and beliefs affect feelings and emotions as well as behaviour. It’s used to teach the client a series of skills that can be used to deal with different problems. For this treatment to be effective the client must know about its functioning. The client should be able apply the skills to tasks in their day-to-day life.
